Royal Family Rift: Prince Harry Overlooked as King Charles Appoints Prince William to Prestigious Military Role

In a significant royal update, Prince Harry has faced another setback from King Charles, who has chosen Prince William for the esteemed position of Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps, told Yahoo. This decision was revealed shortly after it was noted that King Charles would not be able to meet with Prince Harry during his brief visit to the UK.

The ceremony to appoint Prince William will occur next week during a joint royal engagement, a role previously anticipated to be filled by Prince Harry before his departure from royal duties in 2020. Prince Harry had been closely associated with the regiment, serving with them in Afghanistan until 2014.

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that the transition of duties from Charles, who held the position for over three decades, will be symbolically conducted in front of an Apache helicopter, akin to the model Prince Harry piloted during his service.

The timing of this announcement is particularly poignant, coming just two hours after news broke of the King’s inability to see his son due to a packed schedule. A source close to the situation commented to The Sun, saying, “Timing is everything.”

Prince Harry’s visit coincides with the 10th anniversary of his Invictus Games, marked by a thanksgiving service at St. Paul’s Cathedral. During this event, Prince Harry is slated to give a reading, and actor Damian Lewis will perform a recitation of the Invictus poem.

There had been hopeful speculation about a possible reconciliation meeting between Prince Harry and King Charles during Harry’s stay. However, the King’s “full programme” has precluded any such opportunity. The last interaction between the two was shortly after the King disclosed his cancer diagnosis earlier in February, prompting an immediate visit from Harry.

Responding to the ongoing speculation about a potential meeting, a spokesperson for Prince Harry stated, “In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not the duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme, reported by Daily Mail. The duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.” This statement highlights the complex dynamics within the royal family, further fueled by recent decisions and engagements.
