Husband wakes up with large red stripes all over his back in a tourist spot – wife realizes their big mistake
The majority of vacationers will receive a massage.
This is particularly true in countries like Thailand where getting a massage or spa treatments at floor prices is common.
However, you should always inquire about the kinds of massages the place offers. Failure to do so might be fatal and ruin the trip, as one Australian couple has discovered.
Bali, Indonesia, is a favorite vacation spot for travelers from around the globe. Given that the location appears to be in heaven and is also relatively affordable, this is not surprising.
Candice Raison and her husband Matthew, from South Australia, had been visiting Bali for six days when they made the decision to treat themselves to a massage.
But what they expected to be a relaxing and enjoyable massage turned out to be something entirely different. The next morning, Matthew was shocked to see that his back was covered in large red stripes.
According to Candice Raison, the couple decided to make a massage reservation via an online app. The service includes the masseur arriving at the client – and Candice and her husband were too tired to leave.
The masseur, however, asked Matthew if he was interested in ‘getting the red dragon out of him when it was his turn to get a massage.
The red dragon
As per Womenafter40, the couple did not understand what the masseur wanted to do, but they assumed it was some kind of prayer.
“I don’t know what you are saying, but my husband is willing to try anything, so go for it!”, Candice replied.
While talking to the Daily Mail, she detailed how the woman started engraving her husband’s body with a coin and told them that there would be a red dragon tomorrow.
This type of treatment known as ‘gu is intended to release impure substances from muscle tissue.
To achieve this, caregivers scratch the patient’s back with stones or the side of coins. And usually, quite appalling red marks remain on the body.
The next day, Matthew’s back had red stripes, from the neck and then to the tailbone.
Despite the initial shock, Matthew still managed to smile.
“You could say we all cried with laughter”, Candice said.
The strange method greatly affected Matthew’s chronic back pain.
In recent years, Matthew has been working with heavy equipment that has caused him severe back pain.
The signs were gone
“Since then he hasn’t even once complained of back pain!” revealed Candice.
The coin did not break the skin, despite the red marks, and Matthew’s back was back to normal five days after the massage.
“The signs are almost completely gone”.
Everyone is aware of how pleasant and enjoyable a regular massage is.
Even though Matthew’s condition has returned to normal, it is always advisable to find out what you ‘order’ beforehand. If the masseur asks if you want a red dragon, you may want to think carefully about it before you answer.
Or perhaps it’s just what you need to get rid of back pain.
