Khaleesi Bar & Kitchen joins the landscape of the famous Mirabella. Entrepreneur Swaraaj Kapoor launches his second hospitality offering this year. Situated in the evolving suburb of Andheri in Mumbai, it takes you back to a time of royalty and ancestral heritage. Khaleesi as the name signifies is the ‘Queen of the Middle-East.’
It reminds you of the journey of one such queen who travelled with the bedouins around the Arab Peninsula. She who saw a time when the Persians evolved their own foods and as time went on, more influences fell upon her travel as she was introduced to Turkey’s Ottoman Empire. The intricate woodwork and motifs on the walls transport you to the Orient. One look at this palatial Riad and you are reminded of the dining extravagance of the monarchs and princes.
Last evening Khaleesi was welcomed by a grand launch in the presence of eminent personalities like Randeep Hooda, Esha Gupta, Rajkumar Santoshi, Ken Ghosh, Sameer Kochar, Narayani Shashtri, Karan Oberoi, Deepesh Sharma, Harpreet Baweja, Amit Gaur, Suyyash Rai, Asha Negi, Ritwik Dhanjani, Malini Agarwal, Rij Eappen, Vicky Ratnani, Hanif Hilal, Sonnalli Seygall, Ashish Sajnani, Karan V Grover, Rohit Reddy, Girneet Baweja, Jitu Savlani, Mukesh Chabra, Ali Merchant, Teena Singh, Vasuki Sunkavalli etc.
Swaraaj Kapoor stated, “The varied menu encompasses its diverse uniqueness in the look and feel of Khaleesi yet maintaining a sort of homogeneity. An alfresco terrace on the second level allows the inclusion of the moon and stars into your experience. We hope people enjoy this as much as we do.”
Home fermented and well leavened breads give Khaleesi its home-grown individuality. The favourites include Zaatar, Pita, Kuboos and Baladi. The breads form a universal staple of this menu as was for the people of this region. Some recommendations from the chef include Chicken Gyros, Mezze Platter, Kaffir lime risotto and Falafel.
