Take Your Illegal Migrants Back or Lose UK Visas, Britain Warns Foreign Governments
Rupert Lowe, the MP for Great Yarmouth, is raising alarms about Serco’s possible plans to buy or rent properties in the town. Lowe has sent a letter to Serco UK’s chief executive, Helen Shaw, urging the company to clarify its intentions.
The local MP has been working closely with the borough council to address growing concerns and “dispel” rumours circulating about Serco’s plans. However, Lowe says he is still being approached about “specific sites” that may be part of the company’s plans for property acquisitions, reported EDP24.
Lowe, a former Reform UK MP, has called for transparency. He’s demanding that Serco “provide a clear and definitive response outlining Serco’s current and future intentions regarding property acquisitions or housing placements” in Great Yarmouth.
The MP highlighted the rising unease among locals, noting that “growing anxiety” over the unverified reports is causing “considerable concern” for people living in the area. Despite Serco’s history of providing housing and support to asylum seekers since 2012, there seems to be a lot of uncertainty about their future plans in the town.
Serco, which has been supporting vulnerable asylum seekers while they wait for updates on their immigration status, has not yet confirmed the specifics of its property plans in Great Yarmouth. With the growing concerns, many in the town are hoping for a clear statement from the company to put minds at ease.
