Prince William’s Sudden Distance from Harry Sparks Fears Something Serious Has Happened
The growing chasm between Prince William and Prince Harry has prompted royal experts to speculate that something “really bad” must have occurred behind the scenes to cause such lasting estrangement between the once inseparable brothers.
Renowned royal author Robert Jobson and veteran royal photographer Arthur Edwards shared their insights during a discussion on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, where the subject of the brothers’ fractured relationship took center stage.
Reflecting on the formerly close bond between the princes, Mr. Edwards said, “William and Harry were so close all their life, everything they did together. They went and they did everything together. They were so close.”
He continued, “Now something must have happened, seriously happened, that William just can’t stand him anymore. And that’s just so sad.”
Despite the bleak assessment, Edwards left the door open for a potential reconciliation, referencing the biblical story of forgiveness: “I do believe in the prodigal son,” he said. “You can say, ‘I’m sorry,’ and repent and promise not to do it again. And I’m sure the King and William will say, ‘OK, let’s give it another try.’” But, he added, “He’s got to stop this talking about stitch-ups and things like that.”
Robert Jobson added a note of caution, emphasizing the importance of trust in any potential reunion. “I really don’t know how the King can make the first move unless he can trust his son,” he said. “At the moment, we’ve not seen any evidence as to why he should.”
This renewed wave of scrutiny follows Prince Harry’s controversial BBC interview, which aired after he lost his appeal for taxpayer-funded security while in the UK. In the interview, the Duke of Sussex made several emotional revelations, sparking backlash from critics and concern among royal watchers.
“I would love reconciliation with my family,” Harry said. “But there’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has. He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff. But it would be nice to reconcile.”
However, his remarks have done little to mend fences. Speaking about his family’s future visits to the UK, he added, “I can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point. The things that they’re going to miss is, well, everything. I love my country, I always have done, despite what some people in that country have done.”
The divide within the royal family, once assumed to be temporary, now appears deeper than ever—leaving experts and the public questioning what it would take to bring the brothers back together.
