Insider Claims Meghan Controls Harry and King Charles Isn’t Surprised

Meghan Markle might have had a pretty rude awakening after marrying into the Royal Family, according to a royal expert. It turns out life behind palace walls wasn’t exactly what she imagined – and her new “reduced status” didn’t go down well, apparently.

Prince Harry is said to be completely smitten with Meghan, with a royal commentator boldly claiming he’s “totally whipped” – and that even King Charles has noticed. That’s the claim made by royal expert Esther Krauke, who weighed in on a string of recent revelations about the Duchess of Sussex’s time as a royal.

The fresh wave of chatter started with royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith, who dropped some pretty juicy claims in her Substack newsletter. According to Smith, the late Queen Elizabeth and her close confidante Lady Elizabeth Anson weren’t too thrilled about Meghan joining the Firm. In fact, the Queen apparently thought Meghan was “nothing but trouble” and was “not at all content” in the run-up to Meghan and Harry’s wedding in 2018.

Krauke, reflecting on the fallout from those claims, told The Sun that Meghan likely wasn’t thrilled once she realised the royal lifestyle didn’t come with the kind of high-rolling wealth she might have expected. “We know that King Charles said something about him being whipped,” she said. “We keep hearing things consistently coming out from courtiers and people that are close to the Royal Family.”

She added: “The Queen’s opinion of Meghan involved, and it’s much like how the country’s opinion evolved. I think where things went wrong was clearly the cultural clash. I think in some ways Meghan thought she was marrying a billionaire, but was marrying a millionaire with like sort of a reduced status.”

It’s a pretty striking insight, especially as public perception of Meghan has shifted over the years. When she first entered royal life, many saw her as a breath of fresh air – young, confident, successful, and independent. But that image seemed to unravel as tensions within the Royal Family bubbled to the surface.

From the infamous Oprah interview to the couple stepping back from royal duties, the Sussexes’ time as working royals came with no shortage of drama. Krauke’s comments suggest Meghan may have felt underwhelmed by the royal setup – both in terms of the money and the influence that came with it.

And as for Harry, it sounds like his loyalty to Meghan may have rubbed some royals the wrong way. If King Charles really did remark on his son being “whipped,” it might hint at how deeply the couple’s choices shook up the traditional expectations within the monarchy.
