NIH Correct Fauci’s Lies About Funding Wuhan Lab Gain-Of-Function Research

The National Institutes of Health is quietly correcting the record on the NIH’s funding of gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, as stated by Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and Dr. Francis Collins, Director of the National Institutes of Health.

The National Institutes of Health has asked that EcoHealth Alliance, the third-party ‘non-profit’ that routed the money to the Wuhan lab, to reveal the study that was actually taking place. Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Biology Richard H. Ebright of the Board of Governors noted the admittance.

NIH corrects untruthful assertions by NIH Director Collins and NIAID Director Fauci that NIH had not funded gain-of-function research in Wuhan,” Professor Ebright notes. “NIH states that EcoHealth Alliance violated Terms and Conditions of NIH grant AI110964.”

However, Ebright points out that the NIH was aware of the documents in 2018 and had reviewed them several times.

The NIH received the relevant documents in 2018 and reviewed the documents in 2020 and again in 2021,” Ebright said. “The NIH–specifically, Collins, Fauci, and Tabak–lied to Congress, lied to the press, and lied to the public. Knowingly. Willfully. Brazenly.”

Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Francis Collins both deceived the American people about the nature of the research done at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, according to the NIH letter, which is defensive in tone. Furthermore, they claim to know more about the type of study carried out at the Wuhan lab than their claims and the letter itself reveal.

Rep. Mark Meadows cited a conversation between Dr. Fauci and Sen. John F. Kennedy as evidence that the NIAID Director lied to Congress.

EcoHealth Alliance planned to generate a ‘new coronavirus’ at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, according to a grant proposal discovered earlier this month.

We will compile sequence/RNAseq data from a panel of closely related strains and compare full-length genomes, scanning for unique SNPs representing sequencing errors,” the grant application says.

Consensus candidate genomes will be synthesized commercially using established techniques and genome-length RNA and electroporation to recover recombinant viruses,” the application added.

The Telegraph contacted a pandemic expert with the World Health Organization who remarked on the discovery, stating that the research will result in a virus with no known ancestor in nature.

Explaining the proposal, a WHO collaborator, who has asked not to be named for fear of reprisals, said: “This means that they would take various sequences from similar coronaviruses and create a new sequence that is essentially the average of them. It would be a new virus sequence, not a 100 percent match to anything.

They would then synthesize the viral genome from the computer sequence, thus creating a virus genome that did not exist in nature but looks natural as it is the average of natural viruses,” the researcher said.

Then they put that RNA in a cell and recover the virus from it,” the researcher added. “This creates a virus that has never existed in nature, with a new ‘backbone’ that didn’t exist in nature but is very, very similar as it’s the average of natural backbones.”

The Telegraph notes that despite the fact that Dr. Peter Daszak’s request was rejected, it is hard to know what research was undertaken at the Wuhan laboratory:

Despite the fact that the grant proposal was turned down in 2018, the Wuhan database of viral strains was taken offline 18 months before the Covid epidemic, making it difficult to determine which viruses the research was working on or had developed. Wuhan scientists have consistently denied creating Sars-CoV-2 in a lab.

If Sars-CoV-2 comes from an artificial consensus sequence composed of genomes with more than 95 percent similarity to each other… I would predict that we will never find a really good match in nature and just a bunch of close matches across parts of the sequence, which so far is what we are seeing,” the WHO source said.

The problem is that those opposed to a lab leak scenario will always just say that we need to sample more, and absence of evidence isn’t evidence of absence,” the researcher added. “Scientists overall are afraid of discussing the issue of the origins due to the political situation. This leaves a small and vocal minority of biased scientists free to spread misinformation.”

Documents released in September revealed that the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, overseen by none other than Dr. Anthony Fauci, sponsored the EcoHealth Alliance, a non-profit based in the United States, to conduct “high-risk” research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China.

The Intercept got the grant-funding documents as part of their lawsuit against the National Institute of Health. It contains more than 900 previously unpublished pages of EcoHealth Alliance documents.

This is a roadmap to the high-risk research that could have led to the current pandemic,” said Gary Ruskin, executive director of U.S. Right To Know, which has been investigating the origins of Covid-19.

The bat coronavirus grant provided the EcoHealth Alliance with a total of $3.1 million, including $599,000 that the Wuhan Institute of Virology used in part to identify and alter bat coronaviruses likely to infect humans,” The Intercept reports. “Even before the pandemic, many scientists were concerned about the potential dangers associated with such experiments. The grant proposal acknowledges some of those dangers: ‘Fieldwork involves the highest risk of exposure to SARS or other CoVs, while working in caves with high bat density overhead and the potential for fecal dust to be inhaled’.”

The grant was initially awarded for a five-year period — from 2014 to 2019. Funding was renewed in 2019 but suspended by the Trump administration in April 2020,” The Intercept notes.

In July, Senator Rand Paul lit into Dr. Anthony Fauci at a Senate hearing.

As per Beckernews, before confronting the doctor with evidence that NIAID had really supported ‘gain of function’ research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China, which some believe is the root of the COVID-19 outbreak, the Kentucky senator warned him about the criminal consequences of lying to Congress.

These experiments combined genetic information from different coronaviruses that infect animals, but not humans, to create novel artificial viruses able to infect human cells,” Paul added. “Viruses that in nature only infect animals were manipulated in the Wuhan lab to gain the function of infecting humans. This research fits the definition of the research that the NIH said was subject to the pause in 2014-2017, a pause in funding on the gain of function.”

But the NIH failed to recognize this defines it away, and it never came under any scrutiny,” he continued. “Doctor Richard Ebright, a molecular biologist from Rutgers described this research in Wuhan as ‘The Wuhan lab used NIH funding to construct a novel, chimeric SARS-related coronaviruses able to infect human cells and laboratory animals. This is high-risk research that creates new potential pandemic pathogens, potential pandemic pathogens that exist only in the lab, not in nature. This research matches — these are Dr. Ebright’s words — this research matches, indeed epitomizes, the definition of gain of function research done entirely in Wuhan, for which there was supposed to be a federal pause. Dr. Fauci, knowing that it’s a crime to lie to Congress, do you wish to retract your statement of May 11th where you claimed that the NIH never funded gain of function research in Wuhan?” he asked.

Senator Paul, I have never lied before the Congress and I do not retract that statement,” Fauci denied. “This paper that you’re referring to was judged by qualified staff up and down the chain as not being gain of function.”The truth has now been revealed. And in reaction to the NIH’s admission, Dr. Rand Paul said, “‘I told you so’ doesn’t even begin to cover it here.”
