Kevin Bacon calls out FedEx over missing vintage clothes shipment

Kevin Bacon has appealed for help finding a missing shipment of vintage clothes after a package he sent to himself in Ireland travelled between several countries without reaching its destination.

The Footloose actor, 68, explained the situation in an Instagram video posted on Friday, saying he had shipped some of his favourite clothes from upstate New York while working in Ireland. The package has yet to be delivered, despite beginning its journey on September 26.

“I wanted to pack light, so I decided to ship some old clothes over here to Ireland,” Bacon said. He added that he had owned many of the items since the 1990s and used a shipping service he jokingly referred to as one that “rhymes with Bread Ex”.

According to Bacon, the box travelled from New York to Memphis before reaching France and Germany. On September 29, it was sent to Israel rather than Ireland, subsequently moving between Israel, France and Germany over several days.

By October 11, the package had reached England before finally making its way to Ireland, where Bacon said it had been sitting for five days. Despite its arrival in the country, he said the shipping company had told him the package could not be delivered.

“I don’t understand why,” he said. “It’s just sitting there. I can’t get a person on the phone. I have not been able to talk to anybody.”

Bacon dismissed suggestions that he should simply replace the missing items, explaining that the clothes held sentimental value.

“I could buy some clothes, but I want these clothes,” he said. “I’ve had them since the 90s. They have a certain sentimental value. Old boots, old jeans, old hats.”

The actor also noted that colder weather was approaching and asked followers whether he would ever see his belongings again.

FedEx apologised in a statement, saying it was in direct contact with Bacon’s team to arrange delivery and reviewing what went wrong.
