Tiger Woods’ former employee calls him a ‘terrible driver’ and shares reason behind urine test refusal
Tiger Woods is once again making headlines after a frightening car crash in Florida that ended with the golf legend under arrest. Now a former employee is speaking out and offering a blunt opinion about what might have led to the crash.
The anonymous insider told the Daily Mail that Woods has long had a reputation for reckless driving behind the wheel.
“The guy is a terrible driver…he drives like a bat out of hell very often on a road where lawn services are parked with heavy equipment,” the anonymous insider told the Daily Mail.
The source went on to describe past moments riding with Woods in the car that left a lasting impression. “I’ve been with him in the car going 55 or 60 mph, driving past cops who don’t seem to care,” the source added of Woods, who has a history of serious car accidents.

Authorities say Woods was arrested and charged with a DUI, property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test after he flipped his Land Rover onto its side during a two vehicle crash on Friday.
Following the crash Woods was taken into custody and subjected to several sobriety tests. According to Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek he “blew multiple zeroes” on a breathalyzer test.
However Woods refused to provide a urine sample which investigators had requested as part of the testing process. The insider told the outlet that decision likely had nothing to do with illegal drugs.
“I know the guy, that’s just not what he does,” the source revealed.
Instead the insider suggested the refusal may be related to the golfer’s long history with prescription pain medication. The insider told the outlet that he thinks Woods declined to give a urine sample because he “has been on tons of pain medication for years” to treat his repeated injuries.
The 50 year old golfer has previously acknowledged taking medications before driving. After a car incident in 2017 Woods admitted to police that he had taken a Xanax before getting behind the wheel of his Mercedes and eventually falling asleep on a Florida road.
A toxicology report later showed Vicodin, Dilaudid, Xanax, Ambien and THC in his system at the time of that crash.
In the latest incident authorities say Woods was driving through a residential neighborhood in Jupiter Florida around 2 p.m. ET on Friday. Investigators say he attempted to pass a utility pressure cleaner truck but struck the back end of the trailer attached to it.
The impact caused his vehicle to veer toward the edge of the road and flip onto its side.
Despite the dramatic crash Woods was not injured and managed to climb out of the vehicle on his own. Photos taken at the scene appeared to show him attempting to make a phone call.
Investigators noted skid marks along the roadway showing where Woods lost control before the car overturned.
During a Friday press conference Budensiek said drug recognition experts examined the scene and reached a preliminary conclusion.
“They believe it was some type of medication or drug,” he said while also noting that Woods “was not impaired with alcohol.”
Sources also confirmed that Woods reportedly appeared to be alone at the time of the crash. A person familiar with the situation said his girlfriend Vanessa Trump, who he has been dating since early 2025, was not with him.
Her daughter Kai also was not present in the vehicle. The two had recently been seen supporting Woods earlier in the week at the Jupiter Links Golf Club tournament.
Woods was later taken to the Martin County Jail and held for eight hours which is required under Florida law before being released.
