“Did you do it last year?” Susanna Reid’s hilarious blunder leaves GMB fans in stitches

Susanna Reid had a bit of an awkward moment on Good Morning Britain this week when she accidentally forgot that guest Melvin Odoom had already been on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

The 54-year-old presenter was back in her usual spot alongside co-host Ed Balls during Tuesday’s show, with comedian and TV host Melvin Odoom joining them to chat about all things entertainment, reported Wales Online.

After a segment on Keira Knightley and Guy Ritchie’s new film, the conversation turned to the star-studded line-up for the upcoming I’m A Celebrity… South Africa all-stars edition. Melvin ran through the list of big names heading back into the jungle — past winners like Harry Redknapp and Scarlett Moffatt, plus familiar faces such as Sinitta and Gemma Collins — before cheekily adding, “And me!”

Susanna, thinking he might be serious, asked if he’d really done the show before, completely forgetting his stint on the regular Australian version just last year. “Did you do it last year?!” she said, clearly surprised, according to the Mirror.

Ed and Melvin laughed as she followed up with, “Did they not ask you back?” But Melvin quickly set the record straight, saying, “No, no. I don’t think they would ask me that soon anyway. And I was terrified, I cried after. I’m all right, I think once is enough!”

Fans will remember Melvin’s time in the jungle for his hilarious moments and his open admiration for Countdown legend Carol Vorderman. He even brought a cushion with her face on it as his luxury item.

Months later, Melvin admitted he still hadn’t given up hope of getting to know Carol better. Speaking to the Mirror at the TV Choice Awards, he laughed off rumours that she’d ignored him online. “She didn’t ghost me! I don’t know where this… she just hasn’t read my message yet!” he said, smiling.

“There’s this rumour going around that she ghosted me,” he joked. “Carol’s a lovely lady. I just want to put that in black and white right now. She is a wonderful lady, she’s hardworking, and she’s busy out here trying to look after people and take care of them. She ain’t got time to look at my DMs every five seconds! So when she sees it, I’m sure she’ll read it… when she’s ready.”

Meanwhile, excitement is building for the all-stars I’m A Celebrity series, which will once again be hosted by Ant and Dec. The line-up is packed with familiar faces, including Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas, who first joined the show back in 2016.

Other names reportedly heading back into the jungle include Pussycat Dolls star Ashley Roberts, who finished runner-up to EastEnders actress Charlie Brooks over a decade ago, and Coronation Street legends Craig Charles and Beverley Callard, best known as Lloyd Mullaney and Liz McDonald.

They’ll be joined by former footballer Jimmy Bullard, boxer David Haye, and Olympic hero Sir Mo Farah — all ready to face another round of Bushtucker trials and creepy crawlies under Ant and Dec’s watchful eyes.

As for Susanna, viewers couldn’t help but laugh at her mix-up. It was one of those live TV moments that reminded everyone even the most polished presenters can have a complete memory blank sometimes — especially before 9am.
