Lorraine Kelly’s ‘Buns’ Get the Spotlight as Ed Balls Joins in on the Banter

Ed Balls found himself in a bit of a sticky situation on Good Morning Britain today after making a cheeky comment about Lorraine Kelly during a live segment.

Lorraine was chatting with Ed and Susanna Reid about her upcoming ITV show when she announced the launch of National Check Your Boobs Day as part of her Change + Check campaign. For the first time, Lorraine posed topless for the campaign, with strategically placed buns covering her modesty.

Ed, clearly impressed by Lorraine’s playful approach to the shoot, responded with, “Great pair of buns there I thought!” Lorraine quickly shot back, saying, “You needed big ones Ed, considerably bigger ones!”

Not one to back down, Ed replied, “It looks like those buns have risen beautifully!”

Susanna Reid was visibly shocked by the exchange, responding with an awkward pause before reminding Ed, “You know we’re on television.” To which Ed, ever the sport, laughed and replied, “I was just joining in!”

Later on, when Ed joined Lorraine in the studio, he sheepishly apologised, saying he’d been warned by Susanna to keep his behaviour in check.

Lorraine, who recently spoke to The Mirror about the topless photoshoot, admitted that she felt completely comfortable during the shoot, even though it was her first time posing without a top.

“I didn’t feel in any way vulnerable or uncomfortable as I was with my team, who are my friends, and our amazing photographer had also gone through breast cancer herself,” she said.

She also joked about the whole experience, saying, “My editor Victoria asked if I was comfortable being filmed, and I told her I was fine, but to check with the crew in case they would be traumatised!!” She added, “It was all very light-hearted, and after all it’s all about getting the Change + Check message across.”

As part of the campaign, Lorraine’s show also featured a live breast examination with resident doctor Dr. Hilary. In addition, Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden, who’s been backing Lorraine’s campaign since her own breast cancer diagnosis, made an appearance alongside her dance partner Thomas Skinner.

Amy, now 35, was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago, and after undergoing treatment, she revealed last year that there was “no evidence of disease”. Earlier this week, she shared an update from her monthly oncology appointment, saying: “It’s that time again.

Lorraine’s campaign continues to raise awareness for breast cancer, encouraging women to check themselves regularly and to get checked by their GP when needed.
