Meghan Markle Feels ‘Threatened’ Over Prince Harry’s Possible Reunion with King Charles
The Duke of Sussex is flying back to London to attend the annual WellChild Awards. After that, he’s scheduled for engagements in Nottingham on Tuesday. What’s keeping royal watchers buzzing, though, is whether Harry will also meet with his father, King Charles. If it happens, it would be the first time the two have been seen together since February of last year.
So far, neither side has confirmed anything, but speculation is running high. And if a reunion does happen, some believe it could put Meghan in an “incredibly difficult position.”
Royal commentator Jennie Bond told OK! magazine that Meghan’s feelings about the situation would likely be complicated. “It would be natural for her to feel somewhat threatened by her husband being drawn back into the royal circle,” Bond said. “So, I think she would have conflicting emotions about Harry meeting his father, if this is indeed on the cards. I’m sure, though, that they would have discussed it, and that Harry would not go ahead if he did not have his wife’s support.”

That word “threatened” is what grabbed attention. For Meghan, the idea of Harry reentering the royal fold — even briefly — could stir up old tensions. The couple’s exit from royal life in 2020 and their high-profile interviews since then have made clear just how strained their relationship with the monarchy remains.
Still, Bond suggested Harry and Meghan’s bond is strong enough that they wouldn’t make a decision like this without being on the same page. And that matters, especially given how public and scrutinized every move the couple makes has become.
Meanwhile, royal author Tom Bower offered a different angle. He believes Meghan may actually feel more at ease staying in California with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. “She’ll feel safe knowing that she and the children remain Harry’s top priority,” Bower said.
Harry’s brief return to the UK comes at a time when royal health and family dynamics are under the microscope. King Charles, who has faced health concerns of his own this year, hasn’t had much public interaction with Harry since the family rift deepened. Whether the two will use this moment to reconnect — or whether the distance between them will continue — is something royal watchers are following closely.
For Meghan, the question isn’t just about one meeting. It’s about what it symbolizes: the pull of royal duty and whether it threatens the independent life they’ve worked to build in California. If Harry does sit down with his father, Meghan’s reaction may reveal just how fragile or resilient those bonds remain.
