Adil Ray sparks mixed reaction as he returns to Good Morning Britain and some viewers say they switched off

Good Morning Britain fans were left divided on Monday morning after Adil Ray returned to the presenting line-up alongside Kate Garraway. The pair fronted the latest edition of the ITV breakfast show, which covered everything from European leaders travelling to Washington in support of Ukraine to debates over whether the courts should crack down harder on shoplifting and if Britain’s wealthiest bosses should face a new tax.

Sean Fletcher delivered the rest of the news while Laura Tobin kept viewers updated with weather forecasts live from Kew Gardens. But much of the attention online had little to do with the headlines, as Adil’s return to the desk quickly became the main talking point, reported the Mirror.

The presenter, best known for creating and starring in Citizen Khan, hasn’t been on screen for several weeks. He has been part of the Friday rota since Ben Shephard stepped away from the show last year, usually teaming up with Kate, Laura, or Charlotte Hawkins. His reappearance this week was welcomed by some, though not everyone was thrilled.

Several viewers took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their frustration. One person wrote: “I’ll pass on that thanks,” while another added: “Nobody will get a word in with these two presenters. Switches over.” A third simply said: “No thanks,” with another critic posting: “Worst pairing ever. You can do better than this.” One viewer went further, declaring: “Sorry but I will not be watching.”

At the same time, plenty of fans were pleased to see Adil back on screen. One gushed: “Yes! Love Adil! But to be honest all the @GMB presenters are really good.” Another was impressed with the pairing, saying: “I like this pairing on GMB. At heart, both exceptional interviewers.” A third viewer echoed the praise with: “What a great pair today.”

While Adil’s on-air presence has sparked debate, he recently made headlines of a different kind after revealing an unlikely link to Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan. The presenter shared that he once had a “lovely” dinner with the actress around 12 years ago, surprising many of his fans with the connection.

For now, Adil remains part of the show’s hosting team as ITV continues to rotate presenters. And if Monday’s reaction is anything to go by, his appearances will keep sparking lively conversations both on screen and off.
