Meghan Markle Roasted for Wishing Herself Happy Birthday in Cringe Instagram Post
Meghan Markle turned 44 and decided to mark the occasion with a birthday message… to herself. Yep, the Duchess of Sussex used the official Instagram account of her lifestyle brand, As Ever, to post a tribute in her honor, and it didn’t take long for the internet to dive in with the mockery.
The post featured a glossy message praising Meghan’s contributions to the brand and beyond, reading: “Celebrating the woman behind it all. She pours her heart, vision, and magic touch into every detail, and today, we raise a glass to her! Happy birthday to our founder @meghan.”

Cue the eye rolls. Commenters were quick to poke fun at what many saw as a bit of a self-congratulatory move. One wrote: “The woman behind all the flops? 😂 This is so cringe. It’s like giving yourself a high five lol.”
Another chimed in, suggesting the message had all the hallmarks of being penned by Meghan herself: “We can be sure that she wrote this because the first thing she does is praise herself and tell us what she wants us to believe she does and is, and she also refers to herself as founder because she wants to remind us that she’s the founder of an empire”, reported the Express.
Someone else took the sarcasm to another level, commenting: “Because of her, I think laws should be implemented against self complimenting, and also there should be laws against complaining from castles and mansions 😂.”
It’s not the first time Meghan has faced criticism for her public image strategy. She and Prince Harry have been under constant scrutiny since stepping down from their roles as senior royals back in 2020. The couple, along with their son Archie, left the UK behind and moved to California, where they later welcomed their daughter, Princess Lilibet.
Their departure came with explosive interviews and a string of accusations against the Royal Family, including claims of racism directed at their then-unborn son. Since then, the Sussexes have been carving out their own path in the States, launching podcasts, documentaries, and now lifestyle brands — all while continuing to be a lightning rod for public opinion.

But on Meghan’s birthday, it was the tone of the post, not the substance of her business, that got people talking. For many, the idea of toasting yourself online — especially from an account you run — just felt a bit off.
Of course, Meghan still has her supporters, and no doubt there were some raising a glass in her honour. But on social media, it was mostly snark and side-eyes, with many accusing the Duchess of being a little too in love with her own image.
Whether it was meant to be a heartfelt tribute or just good branding, the reaction suggests Meghan’s birthday post might have landed with a bit more cringe than celebration.
