Prince Harry’s Sweet Childhood Habit Has Everyone Saying the Same Thing

A former royal insider has revealed a heartwarming glimpse into Prince Harry’s childhood, and it’s safe to say it’s not the image many might expect of the now outspoken Duke of Sussex.

Paul Burrell, who worked closely with the Royal Family, opened up about the younger Harry and painted a picture of a boy who was far more sensitive and generous than the rebellious royal headlines of the past might have suggested. Speaking on behalf of Casino.org, Burrell described Harry as “always a generous and sensitive boy”, known for his sweet gestures — including giving his own pocket money away to help others.

He shared a charming story about Harry handing out cash to Burrell’s sons using a rather quirky Royal nickname. “He would like nothing better than to give my boys a ‘Pink Granny’ or a ‘Blue Granny’,” Burrell said, reported the Express.

For those wondering, a “Pink Granny” was Harry’s fun nickname for a £50 note, named so because it had the Queen’s face on it — and clearly, he wasn’t stingy with them. “Now you’d prefer a pink granny, because that was a £50 note and that’s what he called it – it had his Granny’s face on it! So now if anyone ever offers you a pink or a blue granny, definitely take the pink granny!”

Burrell recalled how Harry would dish out these notes to help his boys save up for things like a PlayStation, noting, “He was very kind.”

The anecdote offers a softer, more personal view of the Duke, who has had a rocky few years in the public eye. Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020 with wife Meghan Markle, Harry has rarely been out of the headlines — and not always for heartwarming reasons.

His and Meghan’s decision to leave the UK and move to the United States caused a stir around the world. Settling in California, the couple have since welcomed their daughter, Princess Lilibet, and spoken candidly about their experiences within the Royal Family. Their explosive claims, including allegations of racism and lack of support, sparked widespread debate and shook the foundations of the monarchy.

But while the adult Harry may be a divisive figure, stories like Burrell’s remind people of the young prince who was once known for his cheeky smile, generous spirit, and deep emotional intelligence.

It’s these kinds of memories that continue to shape how many still view Harry today — not just as a royal or a celebrity, but as someone who grew up under the glare of the spotlight, yet still found moments to be kind, thoughtful, and quietly generous.

And really, who wouldn’t want a Pink Granny from a young prince trying to help you buy your first PlayStation?
