Susanna Reid Delivers Shock Live Update as Trump Claims Ceasefire Between Israel and Iran
Susanna Reid kicked off Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain with a jarring update that had viewers instantly glued to their screens. Wasting no time, she shared a breaking news alert that former US president Donald Trump had claimed a total ceasefire had been agreed between Israel and Iran.
She told viewers: “Breaking news, Donald Trump claims a total ceasefire has been agreed between Israel and Iran. Overnight, Iran continues to fire waves of missiles at Israel right up until the moment the truce was due to start an hour ago at 5am. We are live in Tel Aviv on this developing story throughout the morning.”
Later in the program, Susanna shared more from Trump’s statement, noting that he warned both countries about the consequences if they “stray from the road of righteousness and truth”, reports the Manchester Evening News. Co-host Ed Balls quickly pointed out the confusion surrounding the situation, highlighting how mixed the signals were from the nations involved. Despite Trump’s confident claim, missiles were still flying as the supposed ceasefire was coming into effect.
To make sense of the chaos, the pair turned to Jonathan Swain, reporting live from Tel Aviv. Ed asked how people on the ground were feeling and whether they truly believed the ceasefire was real. Jonathan’s answer was clear: locals were hopeful, but cautious.
“Good question Ed, good morning from a rather cautious Tel Aviv,” he said. Standing in a suburb that had been hit just the previous Monday, he described the growing toll of the missile attacks. “The residential buildings behind me were targeted last Monday”, reported Liverpool Echo.
Jonathan added that there was a real sense of hoping things would now settle. “Hopefully, all of that can now stop because this ceasefire officially started just over two hours ago, but missiles were being fired right up until the wire.”
Giving viewers a sense of the intensity, he recalled how he and his team were woken up by air raid sirens just hours earlier. “A few hours ago, we were woken up here in Tel Aviv to the sound of air raid sirens,” he said.
He explained how they immediately moved into a shelter, waiting out the danger for about an hour. When they emerged, it was confirmed that some missiles had slipped past Israel’s air defences and hit a residential building in the south of the country. “Reports that four people have been killed there this morning,” he added solemnly.
For Good Morning Britain viewers, it was a powerful moment of live reporting – serious, immediate, and delivered with a sense of just how real the threat remains, despite talk of peace. The ceasefire may be in place on paper, but on the ground in Israel, people are still waiting to see if it truly means th
