Hollywood Dreams End in Horror as Ex-Film Director Murdered in Camden Flat for Her Diamond Rolex
A former film director who once mingled with Hollywood stars was brutally stabbed to death in her Camden flat in a suspected robbery gone terribly wrong. Jennifer Abbott, 69, had been living in the UK for a decade, having left her glitzy past in the States behind — but it seems the dream she was chasing ended in tragedy.
Jennifer, who also went by the name Sarah Steinberg, had once been part of the A-list scene in Beverly Hills. Her social media showed her rubbing shoulders with celebrities like Kate Hudson, Paris Hilton, and Dan Aykroyd. But things changed dramatically after she moved to London. Friends say she had “lost everything” and had been living a more modest life in a council flat ever since, reported the Mirror.
On Friday, she was found dead inside her home, having suffered fatal stab wounds. Neighbours had grown concerned after not seeing her for a few days, and when they couldn’t reach her, they raised the alarm. Police believe the killer may have been after her diamond-encrusted Rolex, which is now missing.
One of her neighbors, Laura, 34, told MailOnline, “She was a movie star. She was in a couple of movies. She used to live in Beverly Hills. She said she came over here and lost everything. Everything was stolen off of her.” Laura said they had become friends over time and that she’d even walked Jennifer’s beloved Corgi, Prince, whenever Jennifer was feeling unwell.
Laura wasn’t at home during the attack, but another neighbour described a disturbing scene. She said she heard Jennifer’s niece screaming outside the door and watched as the niece’s son broke it open with a metal pole to get in. Inside, they found Jennifer’s lifeless body — and her dog, Prince, locked in the bathroom. Miraculously, the little Corgi had survived three days without food or water.
Another local said Jennifer was sharp and full of life, the kind of person who could chat for hours about politics, current affairs, or just the small things. “She was a vibrant, spritely, and intelligent person,” the neighbour recalled. “We knew what each other liked.”
Though she once worked as a film director and even won an award for her movie War of the Gods, Jennifer had also reportedly held various other roles over her lifetime, including working as a doctor.
The Metropolitan Police were called to the flat around 6pm last Friday. A post-mortem later confirmed she had died from “sharp-force trauma.” Investigators suspect robbery as the motive, particularly because of the missing luxury watch. A full-scale manhunt is now underway to track down whoever was responsible.
She was last seen walking her dog on June 10. It’s believed she may have been killed shortly after that. Locals in the area are being urged to come forward with any information that might help police catch the person who ended the life of a woman who had already endured so much.
From glitz and glamour in Beverly Hills to a tragic end in a Camden council flat, Jennifer Abbott’s life took a turn that no one saw coming — and now, justice must be served.
