Woman Shot in Head During TikTok Livestream by Friend’s Partner in Ecuador
A woman has tragically died after allegedly being shot in the head by her friend’s partner while they were hanging out and drinking together. The incident took place on Saturday, July 26, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, inside the home of 28-year-old Keyla Andreina González Mercado.
Keyla was livestreaming on TikTok when she seemingly teased the suspect, identified as Manuel Andrés Lava Lázaro, just before he reportedly pulled the trigger. In the disturbing footage of her death, Keyla is heard saying to him, “Shoot me twice, I beg you, but later; let me get drunk.”
She then continued, “You’ll hit me in the head twice; you’ll kill me in one go. I don’t want to suffer – two in the head.” As the conversation continued, her friend can be heard in the background repeatedly saying “no.” Just before the gun was fired twice, Keyla shouted the suspect’s name. Her friend, who was there during the horrific moment, quickly stopped the livestream and rushed to Keyla’s family’s home to inform them of the incident, reported the Mirror.

The suspect fled on his motorbike after the shooting and is still on the run, with an investigation into Keyla’s death currently underway. Keyla’s family described her as a joker, with one relative saying, “We only knew him [the suspect] by sight; we never spoke with him.
People who know him told us he has a teardrop tattoo on his face and a rifle on his neck.” Keyla was the youngest of three sisters and, according to her Facebook, enjoyed the nickname “Chubby.” Her profile also revealed that her relationship status was “complicated.”
In her final TikTok post, Keyla shared a reflection on her life: “My goal is clear: to continue being a good woman, to walk hand in hand with God, and to be a simple and humble woman without harming anyone.” She also described herself as having a “beautiful soul, a strong character, a mischievous look, a pure heart, and an unforgettable smile.” Tragically, Keyla’s death is the second time a TikToker has recorded their own death live, following the death of beauty influencer Valeria Márquez in May.

Valeria, 23, was shot during a livestream to her 105,000 followers while she was at her salon in Zapopan, Mexico. Two people disguised as deliverymen arrived outside her business, and one of them told her they had an “expensive gift” before opening fire. Like Keyla’s case, Valeria’s death is still under investigation.
Keyla’s tragic end has shocked the online community, and her family and friends are left grappling with the horrific events. The authorities continue to investigate both deaths as they work to bring justice to those affected.
