Heartbreak as Plymouth Mum Says Goodbye to Seven Year Old Bonnie Who Lit Up Every Room

A grieving Plymouth mum is facing the unimaginable after losing her little girl, who she says “lit up every single room she walked into and left everyone smiling.” Seven-year-old Bonnie Haydon passed away last month in her mother’s arms after never waking from an induced coma.

Her mum, 28-year-old Tasmine Nichols from Prince Rock, is devastated by the sudden loss of her “baby girl” and now faces the painful task of planning her funeral.

Tasmine explained that Bonnie had been “in and out of Derriford Hospital since July”, reported the Sun. She was admitted for the second time on August 10 but was discharged home. Just 12 days later, her condition worsened, and she had to be taken back to hospital.

Bonnie had lived with asthma since she was very young. Despite the condition, she was described as a happy, lively child who loved to dance, sing, and play, managing well with her inhaler and medication. But this year, her health took a sudden and devastating turn.

Tasmine recalled the heartbreaking events: “On August 25 she was running around the hospital playing, dancing and singing everything a child would do. But the next day (August 26) she was placed into an induced coma in the early hours”, reported Somerset Live.

“At first I was told they were going to sedate her so she could get a little bit of rest as she was very tired, but when I walked back in I was then told she had to be placed into a coma which I never got an answer as to why. Sadly, Bonnie never came out of the coma.”

Bonnie was later transferred to Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. At first, there was some hope as she showed signs of improvement. But by the morning of August 27, doctors rushed her for a CT scan and told Tasmine that her daughter’s brain had no activity. The following day, an MRI confirmed the devastating news.

“In the early hours of August 29, we let her go,” Tasmine said. “Bristol hospital was amazing, they explained everything and never kept us in the dark.”

Friends and family are now rallying around Tasmine to help her through the tragedy. Family friend Charlie Wilkinson has set up a GoFundMe to help with the costs of giving Bonnie the special farewell she deserves.

On the fundraiser page, Charlie wrote: “Bonnie deserves the most beautiful and special send off and we want to help take that stress away so her family can focus on saying goodbye. Every single penny will go towards giving Bonnie the most stunning and special day, one that shows just how loved she was and always will be. She will forever be seven, forever loved, and forever missed.

“Thank you so much to everyone for your love, support, and kindness during this time. Please donate if you can and share this page so we can give Bonnie the beautiful goodbye she truly deserves.”
