Trump Threatens To Strip Rosie O’Donnell Of Citizenship In Latest Feud

Donald Trump has escalated his long-running spat with Rosie O’Donnell by again threatening to revoke her US citizenship.

The former president took to his social media platform Truth Social on Wednesday, posting: “As previously mentioned, we are giving serious thought to taking away Rosie O’Donnell’s Citizenship. She is not a Great American and is, in my opinion, incapable of being so!”

The post is the latest jab in a feud that has dragged on for nearly two decades. The pair first clashed back in 2006 when O’Donnell criticised Trump on a daytime talk show. Since then, their exchanges have turned into one of the most public celebrity rivalries in recent memory.

Trump’s latest comments follow a similar outburst in July, when he again floated the idea of stripping O’Donnell of her citizenship.

“Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship. She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!” he wrote at the time, according to People.

The remarks have sparked widespread reaction, not least because US law does not allow a president to unilaterally revoke someone’s citizenship. Critics see Trump’s threats as political theatre designed to rile up his supporters while targeting one of his most outspoken celebrity foes.

O’Donnell has often used her platform to hit back at Trump over the years, criticising his policies and behaviour both during and after his presidency. She has become one of his most consistent Hollywood critics, and their mutual hostility shows no sign of cooling.

Trump, for his part, has continued to single her out in speeches, interviews and now on his social media site. The fact that he keeps returning to the issue of her citizenship, despite it being legally impossible, underlines how personal the feud has become.

For now, the exchange has once again reignited attention on a rivalry that has become something of a sideshow in American politics.

As Trump pushes ahead with his campaign to return to the White House, he has shown no hesitation in taking aim at both political opponents and cultural figures, with Rosie O’Donnell remaining one of his favourite targets.
