Susanna Reid left speechless as Richard Madeley teases Rustie Lee live on Good Morning Britain
Good Morning Britain got a little rowdy on Thursday when Susanna Reid was left raising her eyebrows at Richard Madeley’s cheeky comments during an interview with TV legend Rustie Lee.
Before Rustie had even joined them on screen, Richard warmed up viewers by saying, “There are some studio guests on this program that you hear coming before you see them. In the commercial break, you hear them coming down the corridor, 50 meters away. One of them is here now, she’s guaranteed to spice up your life!” Rustie, known for her booming laugh and unmistakable voice, found the introduction hilarious and burst out laughing.
The 76-year-old chef and broadcaster has been in the business for over four decades, something Richard made sure to point out. “I had to check this because I thought we got this wrong, but it’s true. She’s celebrating 40 years on the telly, that’s amazing!” he said. Rustie quickly corrected him, reminding everyone her career started even earlier when she was singing in clubs with her sister, reported the Wales Online.

The conversation turned to her latest project, a podcast called Spice Up Your Life which she hosts with her son James. But Richard couldn’t resist going back to her voice, asking with a grin, “Can I ask a personal question, in all these years, have you ever had your voice measured for its decibel levels?”
That was the moment Susanna let out a shocked noise, clearly taken aback by the unexpected question. Rustie didn’t flinch though. “Talking of my decibel levels, I’m doing a one-woman show! I started off my career singing, and there was one occasion, as I went into the theatre, I was doing a song, and it happened to be one of these big American singers.”
“I was singing and they didn’t have the microphone, someone shouted, ‘Could you turn the microphone off!’. I said, ‘It’s not on’. My voice throws very far, I’m very fortunate. I have a beautiful voice”, reported the Mirror.

She went on to explain the show is starting off as a trial, but if audiences love it, she hopes to take it around the country. And of course, Richard couldn’t resist one last playful jab before wrapping things up. “To be honest, you won’t need to tour the country. Just stand in the doorway and shout!” he quipped, sparking another burst of laughter from Rustie.
It was a lively exchange that showed off exactly why Rustie has remained a household name for so long. Her energy, humour and trademark laugh were more than enough to light up the GMB sofa, even if Susanna was occasionally caught off guard by her co-star’s mischief.
