Awkward Moment on Loose Women as Ruth Langsford Cuts Off Guest Mid Story and Leaves Viewers Gasping
Things took an unexpectedly awkward turn on Loose Women when Ruth Langsford abruptly cut off guest Rosemary Shrager mid-sentence, just as she was in the middle of sharing her heartfelt weight loss journey.
Rosemary, 74, joined the panel on June 30 to talk about how she’s transformed her life and health, including completing an incredible 450-mile bike ride — despite once hating any form of exercise. Sitting alongside Ruth, who was hosting the show, the celebrity chef revealed she’s now discovered a love for cycling and credited both her new fitness regime and a weight-loss jab with helping her shed an impressive three stone.
She told viewers that for years, she had dreamed of taking on a major physical challenge, and the time finally felt right. “I have a voice in the industry. And I believe in food poverty. They have such a hard time at the moment. I think people more than ever – not just people who are less well off – they need help.” Her passion was clear, and so was her determination, reported Entertainment Daily.
Rosemary went on to explain that she’d raised nearly £100,000 so far from her challenge and that donations were still coming in. But she admitted that when she first announced her plan, people didn’t believe she’d go through with it — which only made her more determined to prove them wrong.
She described just how far she’s come, confessing, “I couldn’t walk around the centre of my island in my kitchen. That’s how unfit I was. I couldn’t go on the spinner for more than five minutes. I couldn’t do anything and I could hardly move.” But gradually, she built up her stamina and completed the bike ride in what she called one of the biggest achievements of her life.
As Rosemary chatted away, clearly enthusiastic and eager to keep sharing, it became obvious the show was running out of time. She had just started to talk about how her sense of style has changed since losing weight when Ruth suddenly cut in. “Listen, we are so pleased for you. You are so full of life and you always have been. But this is so incredible for you. Continue that journey and well done,” she said with a big smile.
Rosemary, not quite finished, politely asked, “Can I just say one thing?” But Ruth, clearly watching the clock, held up her finger and replied, “No you can’t because I have got to go.”
Luckily, Rosemary took it in good spirits and burst out laughing, along with the rest of the panel. “Good on you, Ruth,” she said, showing there were no hard feelings.
As the credits rolled and the camera zoomed out, Ruth could be heard turning back to Rosemary and saying, “Sorry, carry on.” So while viewers at home didn’t get to hear the end of Rosemary’s story, the panel backstage did — and it seems all was forgiven with a laugh and a smile.
