Royal Fans Say Prince Harry Would Be a Hero If He Really Decked Prince Andrew

Prince Harry might’ve won over a few extra fans if rumors that he once gave Prince Andrew a bloody nose were actually true. According to reports, the alleged scuffle happened back in 2013 during what’s been described as a particularly sour moment between the pair.

The Duke of Sussex was said to have slapped his uncle, who’s long been the subject of controversy, though his team has firmly denied anything of the sort ever happened.

Writing in the Mirror, commentator Fleet Street Fox poked fun at the claim, suggesting that it sounded more like fantasy than fact. “Words were exchanged, or maybe not. Punches were thrown, claims a Royal author, although that seems unlikely between two soft-handed manbabies more inclined to call lawyers,” she wrote, going on to say that the idea of Andrew walking away with “a bloody nose” after “Harry got the better of him” didn’t sound particularly believable.

“Which sounds about as realistic as suggesting one pebble outwitted a different pebble,” she added. But even if the whole thing never happened, some reckon Harry would’ve come out on top in the public’s eyes if it had.

The writer noted that Harry’s people have made it clear that there was never any such physical clash, but she argued that this quiet denial might have done more harm than good. “In one self-defeating PR masterclass, the Spare Who Cares has put more of a dent in his own reputation,” she said.

Then came the zinger that’s got Royal watchers talking. The columnist made it clear that if Harry really had taken a swing at the Duke of York — who’s been one of the most damaging figures in the Royal Family’s recent history — he might’ve actually gained public support.

“Because if Harry had socked it to the man who has done more to wreck the Royal Family’s reputation than Meghan’s Oprah interview, Fergie’s toe-sucking, Prince Philip’s gaffes, and Princess Diana being in the orbit of Mohammed al Fayed all rolled into one, there’s no-one would think any the less of him for it,” she wrote.

“In fact, he’d probably earn new fans, some of them Royal.”

While the story itself sounds like pure Royal gossip fodder, it’s clearly struck a nerve — not because people believe it happened, but because of what it symbolises. There’s no love lost between the public and Prince Andrew, and the idea of Harry standing up to him, even just in theory, is being met with a surprising level of approval.
