Prince Harry Has No Plans to Move Back to the UK
If you were holding out hope that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might pack their bags and head back to the UK anytime soon, sources close to the couple say—don’t count on it.
Despite recent buzz about so-called “peace talks” between the Sussexes and King Charles’ team, insiders are shutting down any ideas of a royal homecoming. Photos recently surfaced showing Prince Harry’s chief communications officer, Meredith Maines, and UK PR lead Liam Maguire chatting with Tobyn Andreae, the King’s communications secretary, on a balcony near Clarence House in London. The meeting got people talking, especially since it looked like an olive branch might be in play. But here’s the twist—Prince William’s staff weren’t even there.
According to a new report, those hopeful whispers of a reconciliation might be wishful thinking. A source close to Harry told the Mail, “They’re [Harry and Meghan] very happy living in and raising their family in California and, as it stands, have no plans to leave.”
So while the Sussexes may still pop up in the UK now and then—Harry especially, for his ongoing charity work and patronages—don’t expect a full royal return. The Mail report was pretty blunt: “There is no question of a full return to the UK for him or the family.”

Harry and Meghan have clearly settled into their life in Montecito, California, far from palace walls and relentless UK tabloids. And that distance seems intentional.
Back in May, Harry opened up about his fractured relationship with his father and the UK establishment during an interview with the BBC. He had just lost a Court of Appeal challenge over his right to police protection while in the UK. That legal defeat seemed to hit hard, with Harry calling it a “good old-fashioned establishment stitch-up.” He also shared that he doesn’t know how much time his father has left, as King Charles continues his cancer treatment, and revealed that they’re not currently speaking.
He admitted he wants to reconcile with his family but explained that it feels impossible right now. One of his main concerns is safety, saying he couldn’t see how he could “bring his wife and children safely back to the UK” under the current circumstances.
After that interview aired, Buckingham Palace issued a short but firm response, saying, “All these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion on each occasion.”
So, what does all this mean? While there may be whispers and meetings happening behind closed doors, don’t expect a big royal reunion anytime soon. Harry and Meghan appear content with their California life, and despite the drama and occasional visits, they’re not looking back.
