Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Netflix deal on the rocks as insider spills all

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s partnership with Netflix is under serious strain, according to a source who says the streaming giant is losing patience.

Speaking to Radar Online, the insider claimed executives have been left disappointed after Meghan’s new lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan, failed to win over audiences. The series, which features hosting tips, cooking and gardening, was meant to showcase a softer side of the Duchess, but insiders say Netflix found the reaction “frankly terrible.”

“They think the reaction was frankly terrible, but they’re willing to tolerate it because the long-term prize is Harry delivering on a Diana anniversary project,” the source explained.

For Netflix, the real prize is Harry’s potential documentary about his late mother, Princess Diana. The insider said, “Harry remains the only royal voice who can tell his mother’s story with authenticity. He’s been thinking for a while he could earn big money with it, and knows it’s the carrot to dangle in front of Netflix bosses so they keep dealing with him and Meghan.”

The source went on to claim that Netflix sees Diana’s story as a must-have. “The company is convinced that whatever it takes to get that documentary on the platform will be worth it. Meghan’s projects are a price they are prepared to pay for it.”

This isn’t the first time concerns have been raised about the Sussexes’ Netflix output. Earlier reports suggested executives were already frustrated that the couple’s projects haven’t given the return they expected on such a major investment.

“There’s a sense that the return hasn’t matched the investment,” the insider said, hinting that Meghan’s solo ventures could be putting the couple’s lucrative deal at risk.

Harry and Meghan signed their multimillion-pound contract with Netflix in 2020, promising documentaries, series and children’s programming. Their tell-all docuseries Harry & Meghan made headlines and pulled in viewers, but follow-up projects have struggled to replicate that impact.

According to the insider, Netflix is still playing the long game in the hope Harry will front the Diana anniversary project, which could bring in the global audience they crave. For now, Meghan’s lifestyle content may be tolerated, but the pressure is mounting.
