Piers Morgan Drops Hilarious Bombshell About Why You Will Never See Him in the Jungle
Piers Morgan isn’t known for holding back, and on a recent episode of the Rosebud podcast, he shared a hilarious behind-the-scenes insight into his family’s very firm stance on one particular topic. When it comes to reality telly, there’s one line he’s been strictly forbidden to cross, thanks to his mum and dad’s brutally honest warning.
Chatting to Gyles Brandreth, Piers got candid about his family life, opening up about a personal tragedy from his early years. Born in Guildford as Piers O’Meara, he lost his father Vincent in a road accident when he was just 11 months old. His mum, Gabrielle, later married pub landlord Glynne Pughe-Morgan – who Piers refers to as his dad – and it’s from him that he took the Morgan surname, reported the Express.
Despite everything they’ve been through, Piers shared that his parents are still going strong and “doing well.” Gyles, ever quick with a joke, quipped that they’d had it tough “having you as a son,” prompting Piers to laugh and launch into a very Morgan-style anecdote about the time his mum ended up in New York with Donald Trump.
He recalled the bizarre moment she was there while he was filming The Celebrity Apprentice. “It was just a surreal thing, you imagine? Your mum in New York with Donald Trump, so that was funny,” he said. But not all their experiences have been quite so entertaining.
And then came the bit that had listeners cracking up. Piers revealed that his parents laid down the law years ago about one very specific show. “‘Don’t ever do the Jungle’ – I’m A Celebrity,” they warned him. And it clearly stuck. “I’ve always remembered this,” he said, explaining that just last week, ITV got in touch trying to lure him into the jungle.
He didn’t even hesitate. “There’s actually not enough money at ITV to get me to go in that jungle because my parents would disown me,” he joked. “That, for them, was the red line, so you won’t ever see me munching kangaroo testicles.”
It’s a pretty definitive no – not that anyone really expected Piers to be up for cuddling snakes or sleeping in a hammock with spiders.
Since parting ways with Rupert Murdoch’s News UK earlier this year, Piers has shifted focus to his Uncensored YouTube channel in the US, doubling down on the content that made him a household name in the first place.
Meanwhile, I’m A Celebrity fans are already buzzing about the next series, set to hit screens later this year. Danny Jones wore the crown last time around, and this year’s rumour mill is already in full swing. Whispers suggest names like Liam Payne’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy, Jools Oliver, Patsy Palmer, and even Jack Grealish might be on the producers’ hit list.
Ant and Dec famously made FaceTime calls to a few hopeful celebs during last year’s series to get the ball rolling. Just don’t expect Piers Morgan to be one of them. If ITV does ring again, chances are he’ll just hang up.
