ITV’s This Morning Announces Loose Women Star as New Host After Major Shake-Up
There’s yet another shake-up coming to This Morning, and it’s got people talking. Olivia Attwood, best known for her stint on Love Island, is joining the show as a new anchor. The news dropped during Monday’s episode (June 16), when Olivia appeared on the sofa alongside hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard to share the update herself.
“I have some news, it’s very exciting,” she said with a big grin. “I’ll be joining you guys on the hosting team.” The former islander turned documentary maker couldn’t hide her excitement about the move. “I’m very excited to be joining you guys, a huge honour. I’ve grown up watching this show and being part of the daytime team on Loose Women has been the best experience and this just feels like a very natural progression”, reported the Express.
Ben and Cat were all smiles, clearly backing the decision and telling viewers they reckon Olivia will do “brilliantly.” She even got a cheeky little run-through during the live broadcast, where she had to be gently steered towards the correct camera — a rite of passage for any new host, really.
Olivia will be taking on presenting duties over the summer as Cat and Ben head off for their extended break, giving her a proper shot at holding the fort on one of Britain’s most iconic daytime shows.
Of course, not everyone is thrilled about it. The reaction on social media was as mixed as ever. One unimpressed viewer took to X and wrote: “That’s another step downhill for this show! I wonder who else will be hosting over the summer?”
Still, plenty of others were buzzing at the news. “Yes queen hope you get full time on This Morning!” one fan posted. Another said: “It’s great that Olivia Attwood will be a presenter on This Morning, she’ll be fantastic #ThisMorning.”
Olivia’s no stranger to the ITV family. She rose to fame on the third series of Love Island back in 2017, finishing third with then-boyfriend Chris Hughes. Though their relationship didn’t last beyond 2018, Olivia’s profile continued to climb. She joined Celebs Go Dating, appeared in The Only Way Is Essex, and even launched her own documentary-style series delving into everything from cosmetic surgery to OnlyFans culture.
In 2022, she was lined up to take part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! but her jungle adventure was cut short just 24 hours in due to health reasons — a blow to fans who were eager to see her in that setting.
Now at 33, she’s continuing to build her on-screen career and doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. Whether you’re a fan or a sceptic, one thing’s for sure — Olivia’s arrival on This Morning is guaranteed to keep viewers watching, and maybe even spark a few more strong opinions along the way.
