Royal expert claims Meghan Markle’s ‘publicity anxiety’ blamed for shift in online strategy

Meghan Markle is facing fresh criticism from royal experts who claim the Duchess of Sussex is publicly sharing images of her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, out of what they describe as “anxiety” over staying relevant.

The remarks come following Meghan’s recent social media post celebrating Father’s Day, which featured a video montage of Prince Harry enjoying tender moments with their children. The clip included scenes of Harry laughing, dancing, and embracing the children, offering a rare glimpse into the family’s private life.

While many found the video touching, royal commentator Ingrid Seward voiced concerns over what she called a contradiction in the couple’s approach to privacy.

Speaking to The Sun, Seward said, “I think the problem with the video that Meghan’s put out, which is actually charming, is it’s really very hypocritical, because they begged for privacy. They refused to let their children’s faces be seen.”

She elaborated further: “In fact, at the beginning, there was just like one or two photographs of their children. And now suddenly Meghan is flooding the market with photographs of their children, and this goes absolutely against everything they wanted.”

Seward believes the shift in strategy stems from Meghan’s desire to maintain public interest and commercial viability. “Meghan is doing all these things in her anxiety to get publicity for herself, so that she can improve her money-making powers,” she claimed.

“I think their whole lives online is a publicity stunt. Everything that they do online is aimed at them being able to make more money,” she added. “Otherwise why on earth would they do it? Because, remember, they’ve spoken about social media and how damaging it can be, especially for young kids, and how worried they are about it.”

The Sussexes, who stepped down as senior royals in 2020, have repeatedly emphasized their desire for privacy, particularly when it comes to their children. Their reluctance to publicly share images of Archie and Lilibet has long been viewed as a firm boundary—one that critics now say appears to be shifting.

This isn’t the first time Meghan’s social media activity has sparked debate. In recent months, increased online visibility has accompanied a string of brand and media projects, fueling ongoing scrutiny over whether the couple’s media presence aligns with their original privacy claims.

For now, the Sussexes have not responded to the recent criticisms, but the debate around their digital strategy—and its implications for their public image—continues to grow.
