Meghan Markle’s Father’s Day tribute for Prince Harry continues to receive criticism
Meghan Markle is facing a storm of criticism after posting a sweet tribute to Prince Harry for Father’s Day on social media. The video, which featured heartwarming moments of the Duke of Sussex spending quality time with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, was meant to be a touching celebration of Harry as a father.
However, it didn’t take long for Meghan to come under fire. Experts have pointed out the “hypocrisy” of the post, given the Sussexes’ previous calls for privacy and their efforts to stay out of the media spotlight. Royal commentator Ingrid Seward was one of the first to highlight the contradiction, suggesting that the video, while “charming,” clashed with their public stance on avoiding media attention, reported the Express.
Seward didn’t stop there, adding that the couple’s online activities might not be entirely about family moments. She suggested that their posts seem more focused on “making money” than on personal connections. According to Seward, Meghan’s move to share intimate family moments was a sharp contrast to the calls they’ve made in the past for privacy. “They begged for privacy and now suddenly Meghan is flooding the marketplace with photographs of their children,” she said.
She further remarked, “Everything they do online is aimed at them being able to make more money—otherwise why on earth would they do it?”
The criticism was echoed by brand and culture expert Nick Ede, who suggested that Meghan may be using her Instagram posts to stay in the public eye. He argued that sharing glimpses of their children’s faces could be a strategic move to maintain her presence in the headlines while keeping control over the narrative. “I think this is a strategy for Meghan to be in control of the narrative and to allow her fans a glimpse into her life and her children,” he explained.
Ede also pointed out that Meghan’s posts could be a response to the growing speculation about her children. “There has been lots of internet speculation about the children and these breadcrumbs and teasers allow her to be in control, to stop speculation and to keep giving fans what they want, keeping her in the headlines and establishing her as a loving parent.”
While some fans appreciated the video as a heartfelt Father’s Day tribute, others have questioned the timing and motives behind the post, especially in light of the ongoing privacy battles. The backlash highlights the continued tension between the couple’s desire for privacy and their active engagement with social media.
