Josie Gibson Admits She’s Skint and Back in a Caravan After Risky Home Renovation Dream
Josie Gibson popped into Good Morning Britain on Thursday morning for a chat with Ranvir Singh and Ed Balls, and it didn’t take long for things to get real. Known for her cheerful presence on This Morning, Josie was on the sofa to talk about her brand new TV project — but it turns out the big dream has come with an even bigger price tag.
She’s currently filming Josie Gibson’s Big Country Build, a new ITV series following her journey as she transforms her Somerset home into an eco-friendly dream house. But as the hosts showed a teaser clip from the upcoming show, it was clear Josie hasn’t had the easiest ride. She openly admitted the renovation project has left her completely “skint”.

Laughing off the situation but clearly feeling the pressure, Josie shared how building her dream home has taken its toll, not just financially but emotionally too. “I’ve actually roped the family in. They say never to work with family or animals, and I’ve done just that. To say my stress levels are up here…” she told Ed and Ranvir, gesturing high above her head, reported the Mirror.
She’s not going it alone though. Josie’s tackling the whole thing with the help of her brothers Josh and Charlie, who work as scrap metal traders, her cousin Tom, a builder, and a bunch of locals. While the support is appreciated, working with loved ones hasn’t been without its challenges. “They are great, they are amazing, but there are a lot of challenges, let’s say,” she said with a smile that hinted she’s seen a fair bit of chaos behind the scenes.
Ranvir brought up Josie’s rise from living in a caravan to now owning a large property in the countryside. “You’re a great British success story, Josie!” she said. But Josie’s reply was as down to earth as ever: “Well, I’m moving back into a caravan, I don’t know about that!”
Despite all the setbacks, the mum-of-one hasn’t lost sight of the bigger picture. Josie explained her long-time dream has been to build a sustainable, off-grid home, and she’s determined to see it through. “Sometimes, you get this great big dream and you follow your dreams, but you don’t realise, with those dreams, there could be quite a lot of hurdles,” she admitted. “I’ve had a lot of sleepless nights.”

The seven-part ITV series is being produced by MGM Alternative and is due to air in 2026, although no official date has been confirmed just yet. Viewers will get an inside look at the highs and lows of Josie’s eco-renovation, including all the family drama, budget bust-ups, and personal sacrifices that have come with chasing her dream.
The project follows Josie’s recent Channel 5 travel series Around the World in First Class, which aired earlier this year and saw her jet off to glamorous destinations like Hong Kong. But this time, it’s not first-class flights — it’s muddy boots, building stress and a whole lot of elbow grease.
