Jessica Mulroney rejects book deal buzz over royal friendship breakdown

Jessica Mulroney has made it clear she will not be cashing in on her past friendship with Meghan Markle. The Canadian stylist, once considered the Duchess of Sussex’s closest confidante, has ruled out writing a tell-all book about their relationship, despite speculation that such a memoir could earn her millions.

Rumors have swirled for months that Mulroney might lift the lid on their years of friendship, how it unravelled, and what really happened behind the scenes. Publishing insiders suggested a deal could easily run into seven figures given the public fascination with Meghan’s life and the royals. But when asked by the Mail if she was working on a book, Mulroney’s response was firm: “absolutely not.”

The decision will come as a relief to Meghan, according to one source, who claimed the Duchess “would be worried” if Mulroney ever chose to go public, reported GB News. For now, though, Mulroney appears determined to stay silent, even as interest in her past with Meghan continues.

Mulroney first became a familiar name in Britain when her friendship with Meghan was thrust into the spotlight. The two women met in 2014 while Meghan was based in Toronto filming Suits. Their bond deepened over the years, with Mulroney becoming a central figure in Meghan’s inner circle.

That closeness was on full display at Meghan and Prince Harry’s wedding at Windsor Castle in 2018. Mulroney played a significant role on the day itself, while her children were also given important parts. Her twin sons were page boys and her daughter Ivy joined Princess Charlotte among the flower girls. At the time, their bond seemed unshakeable, and Mulroney was widely described as Meghan’s unofficial right hand.

Everything changed in 2020, when Mulroney became embroiled in a social media row over race and privilege after clashing with a blogger online. The fallout was swift and brutal, and Meghan distanced herself almost immediately. Their once highly public friendship seemed to evaporate overnight, and they have not spoken about each other publicly since.

While Mulroney has occasionally posted cryptic notes on Instagram that some interpreted as references to her personal struggles, she has never directly addressed the collapse of her relationship with Meghan. Her refusal to pen a memoir continues that pattern of silence.

The speculation surrounding her possible book deal highlights just how much fascination there still is with Meghan’s inner circle, especially those who once knew her best. A first-hand account from Mulroney would no doubt have attracted huge interest, but it appears she has no intention of reigniting the past.

Instead, Mulroney has chosen to keep her focus away from the royal soap opera, even as her name is continually dragged back into the spotlight. For Meghan, who has spent years navigating headlines about fractured friendships and family fallouts, the news that Mulroney won’t be adding to the noise may be one less worry on her plate.
