After a Split and Surgery Fearne Cotton Is Finding Her Way

Fearne Cotton has opened up about the rollercoaster year she’s had, sharing with fans where she’s at now following her split from Jesse Wood and a health scare that left her needing surgery.

Appearing on BBC Breakfast this week, the presenter was refreshingly honest as she chatted with hosts Jon Kay and Sally Nugent about everything she’s been through over the past twelve months. With two kids to care for and a lot of personal change, Fearne didn’t shy away from getting real, reported the Mirror.

One of the biggest moments came at the end of last year, when she underwent surgery to remove benign tumours from her jaw. “It was the end of last year, it ended up being one benign tumour and a couple of lymph nodes that had to come out with it,” she shared. “But I’ve recovered well and I’m feeling good, and very grateful I think as well.”

She spoke about how sharing her experience became an important part of her healing, opening up about it on her Happy Place podcast. For Fearne, hearing other people’s stories helped her get through it – so she felt it was only right to do the same.

“I guess with the health stuff, I thought there will be other people who have nerve-racking things coming up health-wise,” she explained. “Actually, I found it really helpful hearing other people’s stories. A friend had the exact same operation, weirdly, two years before, and that was a massive comfort.”

Taking time off after the surgery was a rare move for someone always on the go, but it gave her the reset she needed. “I think it was like a little pressing pause moment, which was no bad thing,” she said. “It’s so rare that I take off any time and I had to properly rest and recover; it went quite quickly.”

Now, she says she’s “back in the swing of things” and feeling more like herself again, focusing on her work and her kids, and appreciating the small wins.

But the operation came during an already tough chapter in her life. In December, around the same time as her surgery, she announced she and Jesse Wood were ending their marriage. The pair had been together for ten years and married in 2014. Jesse, of course, is the son of Rolling Stones legend Ronnie Wood.

Fearne made the announcement in a heartfelt post shared on X, formerly Twitter. “It is with a heavy heart that I let you all know that Jesse and I are ending our marriage,” she wrote. “Our priority has been, and will always be, our children. We please ask that you respect the privacy of our family at this time.”

Despite everything, Fearne has kept her head up, supported by friends like Davina McCall and the people who tune in to her podcast. With honesty and a good dose of resilience, she’s moving forward one step at a time and reminding everyone watching that even in tough moments, there’s always space for recovery and a fresh start.
