Eamonn Holmes begs Ruth Langsford for a second chance as romance with girlfriend crumbles
Just a year after their very public split, Eamonn Holmes is said to be trying to win back Ruth Langsford. Friends claim the GB News host has told them he wants to be a family again with Ruth this Christmas, as his relationship with girlfriend Katie Alexander has reportedly hit a rocky patch.
According to Closer, a source revealed: “Eamonn has shocked pals after telling them he wants to be a family again with Ruth at Christmas. He knows he wasn’t always the dream husband, but he would still like to be friends and wants to rebuild that trust.”
The source went on to say: “He wants to change the dynamics. Currently, they are and remain amicable, but he wants more – he wants Ruth back in his life. After all, they are family.”

Despite his wishes, the insider suggested Ruth has no interest in rekindling their romance. “Ruth knew that this day would come, and Eamonn would come crawling back. But she’s no longer invested in him or their marriage – just their son, Jack,” they claimed. The pair are reportedly on “common, civil ground” but it is still very “rocky.”
Ruth and Eamonn, both 65, started dating in 1996 and went on to become one of daytime TV’s most recognisable couples. They co-hosted This Morning from 2006 to 2022, had their son Jack in 2002 and tied the knot in 2010. Eamonn also has three children from his first marriage to Gabrielle Holmes, which began in 1985, reported the Express.
In May last year, after 27 years together and 14 years of marriage, the couple confirmed they were separating. A spokesperson at the time said: “Eamonn and Ruth confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.”
Since the split, Eamonn has been with Katie Alexander, 42. Reports suggested they first connected on social media in 2015, although later claims pointed to 2012. Katie’s ex-husband George, who she divorced in 2022 after 12 years of marriage, was apparently part of their early friendship circle. George, 53, has even joked that there was “flirting” between Eamonn and Katie, once posting on X, formerly Twitter: “Good job we’re both Red,” referring to their shared love of Manchester United.

The cracks in Eamonn and Katie’s relationship are now said to be showing, with friends hinting that it may be one reason he’s looking back towards Ruth. For her part, Ruth is focused on her own life and their son, and according to insiders, has no plans to revisit the marriage.
The once golden couple of morning television now seem to be firmly on different paths. Whether Eamonn’s attempts to reach out to Ruth will soften her stance remains to be seen, but those close to her insist she has moved on.
