Former Counselor to the President of the US Kellyanne Conway resurfaces on Fox News to attack Joe Biden’s administration’s handling of the supply chain crisis and inflation.
Additionally, the former adviser to Donald Trump made one of her wildest claims yet in the process.“
I worked in that White House for four years,” she told Sean Hannity, referring to her time with Trump. “We never even heard of a such a thing. There was no supply chain crisis. There was no inflation.”
When Trump was president and Conway was working in the White House in 2020, supply chain difficulties were one of the most prominent headlines, as the onset of the coronavirus pandemic caused panic buying. This resulted in countrywide shortages of everything from toilet paper to spaghetti, as well as empty store shelves.
“During the initial months of the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. suffered one of the worst supply chain crises in modern history,” Tinglong Dai, a Johns Hopkins Carey Business School professor, told Newswise, Many of the shortages lasted months, according to the report.
When supermarkets did have supplies, several of them imposed strict rationing of flour and beef, among other necessities. The scarcity of food, along with the loss of jobs as a result of the pandemic, resulted in mass starvation miles-long lines at food banks.
As per Huffpost, furthermore, as the supply chain dried up, basics including masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, soap, disinfection wipes, and other items that were needed to stop the spread of the virus became difficult or impossible to come by.
Many Twitter users chimed up with a reminder of that recent history, with many providing images of grocery scenarios from the year 2020.
