In early June, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, brought their two children to London to see Queen Elizabeth II and take part in the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
It was Queen Elizabeth’s first time meeting Lilibet, her great-granddaughter, and an opportunity for her to bond with Archie, her great-grandson.
However, a royal source told The Sun that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s plans with the ailing monarch did not go as expected.
On June 2, Prince Harry and his family were allotted 15 minutes to meet Her Majesty, according to a person close to the situation who spoke to media outlet, as per US Daily Report.
The old Sovereign was surrounded by aides who made sure the encounter was formal and brief. Aides at Buckingham Palace maintained a careful eye on the Queen and listened attentively to what she said.
The royal source explained to the publication: “It was a quick in and out job. It was all quite formal.”
The limited time given to Prince Harry and Markle was viewed as a snub by many. According to a source close to Prince Harry and Markle, Queen Elizabeth was not feeling well on that specific day, so they were unable to spend much time with her.
Because of the Queen’s health difficulties, Prince Harry and Markle did not bother asking for a picture of the precious family moment, according to the same source.
That day, a spokesperson for the royal family released a statement saying that Her Majesty had been pulled from a Jubilee event due to mobility concerns and discomfort.
Queen Elizabeth was scheduled to attend a thanksgiving service for the Platinum Jubilee at St Paul’s Cathedral with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, but stayed at Winsor Castle to recuperate.
The statement that was released at the time read: “The Queen greatly enjoyed today’s Birthday Parade and Flypast but did experience some discomfort. Taking into account the journey and activity required to participate in tomorrow’s National Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Her Majesty, with great reluctance, has concluded that she will not attend.”
Prince Harry and Markle did not mix with the rest of the royal family at the Jubilee celebrations.
Markle and Prince Harry are said to have spent no private time with Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Lilibet was not met by Prince William and his children. Last Sunday, before the Jubilee celebrations were over, the couple and their children traveled back to California.
Prince William and his family, who were at the heart of the festivities, have since announced their plans to move to Winsor in order to be closer to Queen Elizabeth.
Prince Harry, on the other hand, has been photographed having a fantastic time while playing polo in California. The former soldier is working on a book that will be released later this year.
