Jesy Nelson Welcomes Twins After Emergency Surgery for Rare Pregnancy Condition

Former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson has announced the birth of her twin daughters with partner Zion Foster, following a harrowing pregnancy complicated by a rare and potentially fatal condition.

In an emotional Instagram post shared on Sunday, Nelson, 34, confirmed that she gave birth prematurely to twin girls on May 16 after undergoing emergency surgery. She had been hospitalized since late March due to twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), a serious condition affecting pregnancies with identical twins who share a placenta.

“So… Our beautiful baby girls decided to come at 31 weeks plus 5 days. It all happened so quickly, but we are so blessed that they are here with us, healthy and fighting strong! We’ve never felt more in love,” she wrote.

The post included the first photos of Nelson and Foster cradling their newborns. She also revealed their names: Ocean Jade Nelson-Foster and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster.

Nelson previously shared that she was suffering from “ongoing complications” during her pregnancy and was being closely monitored with twice-weekly scans. In March, after a TTTS diagnosis, she underwent emergency laser surgery designed to correct blood flow imbalances between the twins.

“Unfortunately, the symptoms have got worse so they now have to perform the procedure, which is obviously not what we wanted to happen but it’s necessary because it’s going to give our babies the best chance of surviving,” Nelson said in a video message at the time.

“It’s obviously really scary because there’s so many things that can happen. Pray for us, please,” she added, breaking down in tears.

Her partner, Zion Foster, spoke to OK! Magazine article about how the ordeal strengthened their relationship. “I think it’s at these times when you really, really know what love you have and what your relationship means,” he said.

“And I think for me and Jess, this has just taken it to a whole other level of us knowing we are literally made for each other,” he added.

The couple made the hospital room feel like home, pushing a couch-bed next to Nelson’s bed. “The nurses just said, ‘Oh, my God. It looks so nice in here. It looks so homely,’” Zion recalled.

Professor Asma Khalil of St George’s Hospital explained TTTS affects 10–15% of monochorionic twin pregnancies and can be life-threatening. “If left untreated, you can lose one or both babies in up to 80% of the cases,” she said.

Nelson said she hopes to raise awareness about the condition: “We had no clue that this kind of thing happens when you have twins. We just really wanna raise awareness about this.”
